New research from the Department of Trade and Industry...
Published on: Thu 1st March 2007 |
New research from the Department of Trade and Industry confirms that trade associations are rated the most credible source of external advice for business.
In a survey, associations were ranked behind internal sources of help but ahead of senior business figures, Business Links, the DTI itself and online networks.
Local business associations, institutes, universities and regional development agencies were also seen as less credible sources of information on innovation.
About 25% of firms said they make use of trade associations as a sources of business advice - behind accountants, banks and solicitors, but ahead of Business Links, universities and the RDAs and the Enterprise Agency. This percentage increases if 'micro' businesses are excluded.
The research makes clear the key role that associations can play on behalf of companies, representing their sector to government and promoting the innovation and competitiveness that is needed to compete in the current business environment. |
