FMA launches new website to back continued growth

Published: 11th September 2009

Get involved now in shaping the future of a highly dynamic industry is the call from Director General Chris Hoar.

The Facilities Management Association, the trade association for companies working in the UK's multi-billion pound facilities sector, has unveiled a new website setting out the organisation's mission, goals and aspirations for the future.

The site is also the Association's 'shop window' promoting the companies that are already members and inviting others in the sector to join – as well as highlighting the growing list of benefits offered to all FMA members.

Commenting on the launch of the site, Director General Chris Hoar said: "Companies join the FMA because they want to be involved in the development of this still young and highly dynamic industry, and because they want to ensure that their sector's voice is heard at all levels. They know that by working together, we can help to shape the policies and plans that will shape the future of FM.

"This is critical to them, but also to the wider business community as FM increasingly achieves the recognition it deserves for its vital contribution to the success of individual organisations as well as UK plc."

The Facilities Management Association, established in 1995, represents members' interests to Government, to the CBI's Trade Association Council and to FM's sector skills council, Asset Skills. In recent years, it has established formal joint working agreements with a series of organisations with a complementary involvement or interest in facilities management, including the British Association of Removers, the British Council of Shopping Centres, the British Hospitality Association, the Chartered Management Institute, the Cleaning and Support Services Association and the Mobile Data Association.

Unique member benefits include a busy events calendar, ranging from networking evenings to the annual conference, together with special access to expert providers of FM news and market intelligence, workplace law advice and guidance, and training and development programmes.

Notes to editors:

The Facilities Management Association is the UK trade association for companies working in the facilities sector.  Its membership is growing rapidly.  Companies currently in membership have a collective annual turnover of more than £40 billion and employ more than 500,000 people across the country and internationally.

The facilities management industry encompasses the mix of functions and services essential to supporting the core operations at every organisation in both the public and private sectors.  Ensuring that this support is available in the right form, at the right quality and for the right cost is the task of the FM.  FM is a vital function in offices, retail centres, industrial buildings, schools, hospitals etc.
