Director General's Update: October 2009

Published: 9th October 2009

October update from the FMA DG: Chris Hoar

Our new website was launched last month and has drawn considerable praise. We're certainly pleased with the site and will be using it more and more as a key communication platform. At the same time, we've been implementing a series of parallel technology enhancements designed to further improve our operations and services to FMA members.

Four Working Parties have now been established: Health & Safety, Membership & PR, Events and IT. Each group includes eight members and the first meetings will be held soon. These Working Parties are charged with monitoring issues and opportunities in their respective areas, and will also be reviewing industry standards, practices and innovations with a focus on supporting communication and development. The emphasis is on bringing enhanced benefits to FMA members first and then to the wider industry.

Our events calendar continues to be busy. Networking evenings, where the goal is to blend topical subject matter with interesting venues, are proving increasingly popular. We are also finalising the programme and speakers for February's Workplace Futures conference and full details will be available soon. Click here to see what we are planning and how you can get involved.

New members this month include FM services provider Balfour Beatty WorkPlace and IBM system reseller Vetasi. We are also continuing to build new relationships with both government and industry bodies.

Finally, I am delighted to report that the first FMA Golf Day was over-subscribed almost as quickly as we issued the invitation to join in. Thank you to all out supporters!

To learn more about any of these topics, or about the FMA, what we do and how we can help you, please get in touch.
