Access leader supports local cause in Head Office “home town”

Working at height specialist Nationwide Platforms has played its part in giving a prominent local building a new lease of life 177 years since it was first erected.

Established in 1836, Lutterworth Town Hall, which is located just a few minutes away from the headquarters of Nationwide Platforms and Lavendon Group plc, now features striking period signage which was hand painted on its facade and side wall this July.

Run as a Charity by volunteers in the Town, access leader Nationwide Platforms supported the Town Hall project by providing a 27 metre truck mounted platform and fully trained operator to safely manage the work at height associated with the task. An earlier site survey provided by the business revealed the height and outreach requirements of the job, enabling it to select precisely the right platform to complete the task.

With the perfect solution in place, the sign writer was able to get the job done in just one day. The use of traditional means of access, such as scaffolding or ladders, could have meant the work would take a number of weeks to complete, whilst the truck provided by Nationwide Platforms was simply and conveniently driven on to and away from the working area, providing access to the work area in significantly less time.

Last year, Nationwide Platforms helped play its part in a similar local task when its equipment was used to help install regal bunting ahead of the Diamond Jubilee party in the streets of the town.

Stephen Walkley of Lutterworth Town Hall Charity said: “On behalf of all of my colleagues I’d like to thank Nationwide Platforms for kindly providing us with its expertise and services. Last year we became the only venue in the town licensed to hold civil weddings and felt the impressive building needed its name on it. With their support our Town Hall is now clearly signed and ready to serve for another 177 years!”

Nationwide Platforms’ Managing Director Mike Potts said: “As part of our commitment to Corporate Responsibility we’re proud to support worthy, local causes across the UK. As the home of our Head Office we were incredibly pleased to get behind Lutterworth Town Hall and provide them with a safe and effective means of completing what might’ve otherwise been a tricky task.”

Following successes in 2012, Nationwide Platforms is set to host a Health, Safety and Sustainability Week this autumn. Further details are to follow in the coming weeks.

The new handwritten lettering has given Lutterworth Town Hall a striking new presence.
